Turkish Delight

It's the "Turkish Delight" edition, in more ways than one. First, it's a celebration of today's 98th Turkish Republic Day. And businesses from Turkey are the No. 1 supporters of the Kyiv Post, far and away ahead of any other country. That's why today's edition is a massive 40 pages. It chronicles the deepening strategic relationship between Turkey & Ukraine, whose citizens enjoy passport-free travel with each other. Other stories: Mikheil Saakashvili is on the 29th day of his hunger strike in a Georgian prison. We have a front-page column by supporter Ivan Lozowy.  Saakashvili is the former Georgian president, the former Odesa Oblast governor, and a Kyiv Post columnist. The Bilshovyk auction went as predicted -- to tycoon Vasyl Khmelnytsky for a low price after other investors saw legal landmines with the property, apparently designed to deter other competitors. The shady circumstances didn't deter Ukrainian officialdom from declaring the sale a triumph of privatization. The COVID-19 news is grimmer and grimmer. Record infections or record deaths almost daily. Kyiv goes into a red zone on Nov. 1, with major restrictions on movement for the unvaccinated. Missed the Kyiv Post/NATO webinar? Catch it online on our YouTube channel or read the summary in this print edition.
