You're reading: Group of Odesa residents picketing election headquarters of former city mayor Hurvits, demanding to pay for polls

ODESA - Around 100 people have blocked the Yekaterynynska Street in central Odesa at the election headquarters of former Odesa Mayor Eduard Hurvits. They are demanding payment for the work during the elections.

It was said to the Interfax-Ukraine correspondent that, according to different estimates, a total of around Hr 1 million is owed to the demonstrators, including observers, campaigners and members of committees.

According to preliminary reports, the former Odesa mayor has gained slightly more than 8 percent of the vote and came third at the Oct. 25 elections.

Some 51.64 percent voted for incumbent Mayor of the city Hennadiy Trukhanov. Oleksandr Borovyk came second with 24.78 percent of the ballot.
