September 16 at 11.00 am in the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center Kyiv Smart City will present the first innovation district –Living Lab–project onMelnikova Street space equipped withthe best technologies for comfortable life in the city.
It is planned to install traffic lights to prevent traffic congestion, the ground pedestrian crossings lighting system, sensors for people with vision problems, free space for disabled people, separation of a trade zone, CCTV system for violation identification, detailed high quality road marking.
The space will become an eco-friendly environment with energy saving street lighting system, formation of green spaces and parks, waste sorting and recycling system, smart benches and monitors with solar panels and a possibility of charging your gadgets, electric vehicle charging stations, the sensors of the ecological condition of streets.

Team inspired by cases of such cities as Barcelona, Chicago, Boston, Stockholm. Kyiv Smart City’s partners are Tallinn and Amsterdam, where smart technologies are not just a perspective but a reality. Changes became possible because of close cooperation between state, business and active citizens.
For Ukrainian innovative companies it is a chance to make their brandrecognizable because city space will be open for innovations’ implementation and advanced solutions testing.
It is Kyiv’s turn now and Living Lab on Melnikova street is a model which can be followed by other Ukrainian cities later. Smart City was implemented in 2015 with implementation of open budget of Kyiv, Information system and the Medical portal of Kyiv, Application system of online petitions to the Kyiv Rada, government procurement system, metropolitan credit card payment.
