Kazakhstan is interested in the resumption of its oil deliveries through Ukraine and this issue will be discussed during the visit of Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Ukraine scheduled for September 14-15.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ukraine Amangeldy Zhumabayev announced this at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday.

"We will discuss these issues during the president’s visit," he said.

In particular, they will discuss the renewal of the annual shipments of 6 million tons of crude oil through the territory of Ukraine, which was given up by Ukraine’s previous government.

"We want to renew the shipment of 6 million tons through the territory of Ukraine," the ambassador said.

The diplomat expressed surprise at the decision of the operator of Ukraine’s oil transport system OJSC Ukrtransnafta that terminated the transit agreement, which was bringing $100 million a year to Ukraine’s state budget.

Ukraine and Kazakhstan need to discuss the resumption of these deliveries, as the latter has already agreed these shipments with Russia, Zhumabayev noted.

The program of the Kazakh president’s official visit to Ukraine is being currently coordinated, the ambassador said. Nazarbayev is to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart and other top officials, and will visit a number of facilities in Ukraine, he said.

Apart from oil and gas issues, the visit agenda will include the issues of bilateral cooperation in nuclear energy, the use of Baikonur space centre for joint launches, as well as cooperation in agriculture, in particular the processing of Kazakh farming products in Ukraine, and the possible supply of Ukrainian agricultural machinery to Kazakhstan.
