Five or seven years are needed at most to reform the economic structure of Ukraine, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at a press conference in Tallin on Tuesday after a meeting with his Estonian counterpart Andrus Ansip.

According to Azarov, populist measures by some political forces of Ukraine led to the fact that no reserves were created to combat the economic crisis.

"At present we should be flexible in relation to the new conditions," the premier said.

"If we manage to rebuild the economic structure in five, seven years at most, then we will be ready to meet the next crisis, as they [crisis events] are [cyclical]," Azarov said.

The head of the Estonian government, in turn, said that some Estonian entrepreneurs working in Ukraine had complained about the frequent change in the rules of business.

In connection with this, he supported the course by the current leadership of the country aimed at achieving stability.

"I’m sure the course towards stability is advantageous for Estonian entrepreneurs working in Ukraine," he said.

In addition, during Azarov’s visit, Economy and Communications Minister of Estonia Juhan Parts and the Chairman of the State Committee of Ukraine for Issues of Science, Innovation and Information Technology Volodymyr Semynozhenko signed a memorandum on cooperation in the sphere of information technology.

Estonian Social Minister Hannu Pevkur and his Ukrainian colleague Vasyl Nadraha signed a bilateral agreement of social insurance.
