Belarus plans to ship oil from overseas via Ukraine, said Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky on Thursday.
Sidorsky confirmed the plans at a meeting with Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Klyuev.
Sidorsky said his country has been diversifying its fuel supply routes and developing oil deposits in Venezuela, African and Asian countries, Belarus Belta news agency reported.
Klyuev confirmed that Kiev was ready to transit oil from Venezuela via the Ukrainian territory, noting that the particular volumes would be known by November.
He also reaffirmed that Ukraine would keep providing Belarus with electricity according to a long-term contract signed between the two countries.
Ukraine is the second largest trading partner of Belarus among the former Soviet countries. Belarus is the seventh largest trading partner of Ukraine in the region.
