KYIV, Mar. 30 (Ukrainian News) The Cabinet of Ministers on Thursday authorized all enterprises and scientific research institutes in the coal extraction sector to direct all funds from their settlement and budget accounts toward the payment of salaries and arrears.
According to the government telegram to Ukraine’s coal sector, signed by Prime Minister Viktor Yushchenko, must maintain this regime of salary and arrears payments for at least the next two months.
The measures are being implemented as an exception – to calm social tensions in the coal sector, the Cabinet’s message said.
According to the State Statistics Committee, on March 10 salary arrears in the coal industry stood at Hr 630.8 million, or 99.1 percent of all salary arrears in the fuel industry.
Total salary arrears for all branches of industry in Ukraine amount to Hr 4.79 billion.
