KYIV, Apr. 17 (Ukrainian News) – During a meeting of the board of the wholesale electricity market on April 12, board members appealed to the Energorynok wholesale electricity enterprise not to sell electricity networks to recover oblenergo debts.

The board decided to make this appeal to prevent the sale of power company electricity networks to recover debts owed to the Energorynok enterprise. These debts amounted to Hr 10.936 billion as of March 1.

According to board members, all oblenergos, or regional power supply companies, are presently at risk of having their assets sold because of debt-recovery lawsuits won by Energorynok last year.

Most of the courts involved ordered recovery of the debts through unilateral withdrawal of money from the power companies’ bank accounts. However, the courts granted deferment of debt payments for periods ranging from two to seven months.
