KYIV, Sept 25 – Enterprises that do not pay for consumed energy by October 1 will be switched off, Fuel and Energy Minister Serhy Yermilov said, according to Ukrainian Financial Server.
The most persistent non-payers, according to Natalia Zarudna, Prime Minister Viktor Yushchenko’s press secretary, are Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Zaporizhya and Luhansk oblasts.
Zarudna noted that these oblasts consume 60 percent of the energy in the country, while 58 percent of the enterprises with energy arrears are located in those regions.
Yermilov said that switching the enterprises off automatically would lead to their bankruptcy and cause changes not only in the managerial staff, but in the form of ownership, with a complete restructuring of those enterprises, according to the UFS report.
