Europe's largest egg producer, the Ukraine-based Avangardco, which last year was almost double the size of its nearest rival France's Avril Group, saw its operations scrambled after it was forced to suspend all of its laying farms in the conflict zone in the east of Ukraine, which has helped slash its flock of laying hens by 36 per cent from the same period last year to 10.7 million.
