The Russian Gazprom offers Naftohaz Ukrainy to buy natural gas at USD 450 per 1,000 cubic meters in January 2009, Aleksey Miller, chairman of the Gazprom board of directors, told a press conference broadcasting on the Vesti TV Channel. b



“We hope our gas price at USD 450 will return Naftohaz Ukrainy to a negotiating table in the short run,” Miller said.

Earlier the Ukrainian side refused to pay USD 250 per 1,000 cubic meters with the transit rate of USD 1.7 per 1,000 cubic meters for 100 kilometers, he reminded.

According to Miller, the price at USD 450 per 1,000 cubic meters is that for East European countries minus transit via Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News reported, Gazprom has suspended gas supplies to Ukraine since January 1, 2009.

The Naftohaz Ukrainy national joint stock company considers the price of USD 179.5 per 1,000 cubic meters for imported gas as economically reasonable price for 2009 with the gas transit rate of USD 1.7 for transportation of 1,000 cubic meters at a 100-kilometer distance.

During the talks Gazprom offered a price of USD 250 per 1,000 cubic meters and the gas transit rate of USD 1.7 for transportation of 1,000 cubic meters for 100 kilometers.

The Naftohaz Ukrainy national oil and gas company agreed with a price of USD 235 per 1,000 cubic meters with a gas transit rate of USD 1.8 for transportation of 1,000 cubic meters for 100 kilometers.
