You're reading: Government reduces port fees for transit cargo for six months

The Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Infrastructure have agreed a 50 percent reduction in port fees for vessels carrying goods in transit, except for an administrative duty, for six months.

This is stipulated in government order No. 1318-r dated Dec. 2, 2015, the text of which has been posted on the website of the Cabinet.

“A 50 percent discount on all types of port fees, except for administrative fees, has been introduced for a period of six months for ships that enter Ukrainian ports to load and/or unload goods in transit. Discounts are aimed at attracting additional transit traffic, which will also promote the development of rail and road transportation,” the press service of the Cabinet said.

According to its data, thus revenues to the budgets of all levels will grow, a stable social climate among transport workers will be provided.

The decision on the appropriateness of using reduced port fees on a regular basis will be made on the results of the experiment.
