KYIV, Apr. 10 – The planned restart of parallel operations between Russia’s United Energy Systems and the Ukrainian power supply system could be disrupted, NTV reported on Tuesday.

According to a source at the Russian UES, the Ukrainian government has not complied with the obligations it assumed when it signed an energy cooperation memorandum with Russia in February.

In addition to providing for connection the country’s two power grids, with Russia and Ukraine exchanging equal amounts of energy, the memorandum also says that Russia would transmit electricity to Moldova and provide commercial supplies of Russian energy to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government’s resolution on uniting the two power grids, however, does not match the signed memorandum on these two points, the report said.

Russia and Ukraine were scheduled to unite their power grids on April 15.
