Fuel and Energy Minister Yurii Prodan considers that the Naftohaz Ukrainy national joint-stock company and Russian gas monopoly Gazprom are likely to sign the agreement on the natural gas supplies to Ukraine by January 1, 2009, he told this to the press.

At the same time, the minister did not rule out that the national joint-stock company is likely to attract another loan of the state-run Oschadbank to redeem its debt to the RosUkrEnergo company for the gas supplies. He said that despite everything the partnership between Naftohaz Ukrainy and Gazprom will remain unchanged. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the national joint-stock company has attracted the Oschadbank’s loan worthHr 6 billion to repay the gas debt. On December 17, Naftohaz Ukrainy sent about USD 800 million to RosUkrEnergo to repay the gas debts. |
