Kyiv-based Retail Group holding, a managing company of food store chains, plans in 2013 to open 15 new VK Express convenient stores in Kyiv city and region, while today the chain unites five outlets.

“In 2013, the group plans to invest from Hr 40 to Hr 80 million in the development of its chains, taking into account restyling of existing stores. The company will pay special attention to the development of the VK Express convenient stores. It is planned to open around 15 new stores in Kyiv city and region,” reads a company press release.

The company’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine that the major part of the new stores of the chain will be opened in the second half of 2013.

The press release says that in 2013 it is planned to restyle four Velyka Kishenya supermarkets into Velmart hypermarkets (in Kirovohrad, Berdiansk and two in Kharkiv), open new Velyka Kishenya supermarkets in Kyiv and Cherkasy. In the capital the investment will be mainly sent to the restyling of existing supermarkets.

In 2013, the group intends to boost the share of house brands in the total turnover to 8.5 percent from 4.7 percent in 2012.

The goods turnover of Foodmarket company in 2012 came to Hr 5.8 billion, a rise of 9.9 percent on 2011.

Earlier the main shareholder and founder of Retail Group Roman Lunin told reporters that Retail Group plans in 2013 to increase goods turnover by 10-15 percent compared to 2012.

“We have net sales of $605 million excluding VAT in 2012,” he said.

Thus, the goods turnover of Retail Group over this year could rise to nearly $700 million.

Retail Group unites 66 trade outlets in Ukraine (46 Velyka Kishenya supermarkets, 10 Velmart discount stores, three VK Select premium class stores, a Prosto-Market discount store, discounter No.1 in Uman, five VK Express convenience stores and ten Green Hills Market stores in four cities and towns of Moldova.

Lunin is the main shareholder in Retail Group.
