The rise in Ukrainian gross domestic product (GDP) in 2008 was 2.1 percent year-over-year, while in the previous year it was 7.6 percent, the State Statistics Committee reported on Thursday.
The State Statistics Committee hasn’t given other indicators of GDP dynamics yet, in particular for December.
As reported, Ukraine saw real GDP plummet 14.4 percentin November 2008. The drop in GDP in November resulted in overall GDP growth in the first eleven months of 2008 slowing to 3.6 percent, down from 5.8 percentover the first ten months.
Nominal GDP totaled Hr 875.376 billion in January-November 2008, including Hr 75.38 billion in November (Hr 85.101 billion in October).
In 2009, the government expects a fall in the growth of Ukrainian economy of 0.4 percent, while experts forecast a decline of around 5 percent.
