KYIV, July 26 – Ukraine will sell 25 percent in its ship-building company Meridian through a privatization tender in September, the State Property Fund said on Wednesday.

The fund said the starting price of the stake was set at Hr 8 million. A winning investor would also have to keep the present number of employees and prepare a long-term plan for modernizing the plant.The nominal share capital of the company is Hr 9.727 million.

The plant, located in the southern Ukrainian port of Mykolayiv, posted a pre-tax profit of Hr 4.089 million in the first quarter of 2000. Meridian had a pre-tax profit of Hr 8.277 million in 1999.
