You're reading: Ukraine ups coal production 3.5 percent in 11 months

Kyiv, Dec. 1 (Interfax) - Ukraine raised coal production approximately 3.5 percent year-on-year in January-November to 71.456 million tonnes, the Coal Ministry told Interfax.

Coking coal production fell 4.4 percentto just over 24.971 million tonnes, but steam coal rose 8.4 percentto 46.485 million tonnes.

Coal production by Ukraine in November fell 3.8% year-on-year to 3.764 million tonnes, including growth of 6.9 percentto 2.998 million tonnes of steam coal, however coking coal production plummeted 8.6 percentto 765,765 tonnes.

Coal production in Ukraine fell 6% in 2007 compared with 2006 to 75.437 million tonnes, including 28.396 million tonnes of coking coal, down 5.8 percent, and 47.041 million tonnes of steam coal, down 6.1 percent.
