Ukraine has no plans to impose grain export quotas, according to Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk.
Prysiazhniuk was quoted by Ukrainian news agencies as saying during a cabinet meeting on Aug. 25 that introducing grain export quotas now is unecessary "because there is no need to do so." He added that grain export quotas could be considered in the future, depending on grain exports.
Vice Premier Viktor Slauta also said that it would be premature today for government to impose grain export quotas, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
Ukraine’s government had announced earlier in August that it would consider imposing grain export quotas on wheat and barley.
