Wizz Air, the first low-cost carrier in Ukraine, is launching a new flight to Dubai starting in October.

The company will fly to the Dubai World Central Terminal, a new wing of the airport, that opens in fall. The first flight is expected on Oct. 28 and then will be
operated four times a week.

“It is the first route out of Ukraine to this part of the
world, Arabic world. We have previously tried to fly no more than 3
hours, now this flight will be almost 5 hours. So, this is a big step
for us,” said Akos Bus, director general of Wizz Air Ukraine, speaking to media on April 3 in Kyiv.

The ticket will cost Hr 899 one way. The tickets are already available on wizzair.com.
The company admits it will face a tough competition as FlyDubai and
Ukrainian International Airlines operate flighs to Dubai. Airarabia, a
low cost carrier also flies from Kyiv to Sharjah, another emirate near Dubai.

Aside from opening new route from Kyiv to Dubai, Wizz air at the
same time opens flights to Dubai from Sofia, Bulgaria; Bucharest, Romania; and Budapest, Hungary.

“We
currently do not have all the nessesary permissions but we have no
doubts that we will obtain them very soon,” said Natalia Artemova,
Commercial Director of Wizz Air Ukraine.

In March Wizz Air Ukraine obtained assignments for the Kyiv-Dubai, Kyiv-Moscow,
Kyiv-St. Petersburg, Kyiv-Bucharest, Kyiv-Vilnius, Kyiv-Sofia,
Donetsk-Kutaisi and Kharkiv-Kutaisi routes.

The company
currently operates three Airbus-320 aircraft on 17 routes to nine
countries. It expects to add the fourth aircraft to its fleet in June.

The company serviced 630,000 passegners in Ukraine in 2012 and expects to service 1 million Ukrainian passengers in 2013.
