Businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, who owns an 18.58% stake in UkrSibbank (Kharkiv), is ready to retain his stake in the bank and participate in its capitalization if the bank is profitable, he told Interfax-Ukraine.
"I am ready to participate in a profitable project. I am not ready to partake in an unprofitable project," he said.
Commenting on reports that the bank’s major shareholder, BNP Paribas, plans to make UkrSibbank profitable, Yaroslavsky said he has no grounds not to believe it.
UkrSibbank was founded in 1990. Yaroslavsky was one of the bank’s founders and major shareholders. Later, he jointly with his partner sold a controlling stake to French bank BNP Paribas. The French investor increased its stake in the bank to 81.4157%.
The bank’s shareholders at a meeting on August 12, 2010 decided to increase the bank’s statutory capital by 42.3%, to Hr 7.512 billion, through an additional issue of shares.
