You're reading: Yatsenyuk asks parliament to allocate Hr 135 million for Chornobyl nuclear power plant

CHORNOBYL - Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk asked the Verkhovna Rada to endorse a law under which the Chornobyl nuclear power plant will be funded by Hr 135 million (around $6.2 million).

“The parliament should endorse a law to provide additional funding of Hr 135 million to the Chornobyl nuclear power plant,” the premier said at a construction site of the Chornobyl new shelter in the north of the Kyiv Oblast.

The assembly of the donors of the Chornobyl Shelter Fund will meet in London on July 16, the prime minister said. First Deputy Prime Minister Valery Voschevsky will head the Ukrainian delegation at this assembly. Yatsenyuk also said that the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources had done nothing to prepare for this conference.
