Deposed Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev said he does not recognize his removal from office as a legitimate act, but does not plan to return to Kyrgyzstan as president at the moment.

"I am not going to return to Kyrgyzstan as president. But I do not recognize my removal," Bakiyev said at a news conference in Minsk on Friday.

Bakiyev also admitted that he had failed to foresee developments, which led to his removal.

"Nothing suggested that a revolutionary situation or unrest would emerge," he said.
