MOSCOW - Montenegro sees sanctions as a passing period in relations between Europe and Russia and wants the sanctions to be lifted as soon as possible, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic has said.

“I would like to say it absolutely frankly: we do not believe in the sanctions policy, that it can lead to something good… We think that it is a very negative stage in Russian-European relations, but still a passing one, and we want the sanctions policy to be exited as soon as possible and the partnership to be resumed,” Djukanovic told Russia’s Dozhd television station.

“In spite of all the differences, Europe and Russia remain neighbors, and it is wrong when neighbors build their relations based on mutual punishment,” he added.
