The European Union will provide political and economic support to the interim Kyrgyz government if it adheres to the democratic principles.
The interim government must follow a rigorous plan to restore constitutional and democratic order and the rule of law, the European Union’s foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said in Strasbourg.
Priority must be given to stability and public order, she said.
If the European Union is satisfied with how the interim government is getting back to law and order, and if the interim government wants to join the democratic family, the EU would be ready to give it the political, financial and technical assistance it needs, Ashton said.
The political aspect of possible aid to Kyrgyzstan could be discussed by the EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg on Monday, she said.
