TBILISI, Oct. 29 - Georgian police detained 20 people on suspicion of spying for Russia, Georgian security sources said on Friday, a move which could add to tensions two years after the nations fought a brief war.

The detainees, all Georgian citizens, were suspected of creating a spy network in the ex-Soviet nation and delivering secret information to Russia, the sources told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

Georgia’s Interior Ministry has declined to confirm or deny media reports on the detention of 20 people suspected in spying for Russia.

A Georgian Interior Ministry official, when approached by Interfax, refused to comment.
