Tbilisi - New Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia Janos Herman is confident that Georgia will never deviate from the European integration path.

Herman told reporters on Thursday before he met with dismissed Georgian Defense Minister, Free Democrats party leader Irakli Alasania that he did not see any threats and believed in the European orientation of Georgia.

In his words, it is important to continue building a democratic, stable and multi-party Georgia.

Herman said they had lots of plans and many important events pending and they would carry on that work together with the Georgian authorities.

Earlier on Nov. 6 the new EU ambassador met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

“The sides discussed priority issues in Georgia-EU relations and mapped out prospects for deeper cooperation,” the prime minister’s press service reported.

Herman was appointed as the Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia in the middle of October. Prior to that, he held senior positions at the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, for instance, he was the state secretary and the permanent representative to NATO until 2005 before he started working at the EU. He also headed the EU Delegation to Norway and was the EU Special Representative to Asia.
