Bishkek, April 26 (Interfax) - The interim Kyrgyz government adopted a decree on April 26, removing Kurmanbek Bakiyev from the presidential office and stripping him of his presidential immunity, the interim government's spokesperson told Interfax.
The decision was based on Article 46 of the current Constitution, whereby Bakiyev, who was the head of state at the time, "had no right, as the commander-in-chief, to order the troops to open fire at protestors" on April 7.
The decree was proposed by deputy head of the interim government Azimbek Beknazarov.
The decree orders that, "Bakiyev be found guilty of violating Article 46 paragraph 6 of the Kyrgyz Constitution and be extradited to face trial in his home country."
