Large-scale operations on the Nord Stream gas pipeline will begin in April 2010, and on South Stream in autumn, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Gazprom board chairman Viktor Zubkov.
"Current preparations under the Nord Stream project involve orders for pipeline products and a compressor station," Zubkov told journalists in Berlin.
"But I feel that the major large-scale operations could begin in April, there is a big preparation for it going on," he said.
As for the South Stream gas pipeline, "everything is going quite well" in this project, the official said. In particular, survey permission was recently received from Turkey, and the Turkish site is quite important for this project, Zubkov said.
The survey and design work could be finished by September-October, he said. All documents are being prepared to make sure that work under the South Stream project begins in autumn, he said.
