Novosibirsk - The delivery of the Mistral-class helicopter carriers to Russia will depend on the situation in Ukraine, but Russia and France should continue to promote their cooperation nonetheless, French Ambassador to Russia Jean-Maurice Ripert told reporters in Novosibirsk on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

“There are certain difficulties stemming from the conflict that is happening outside of Russia – in Ukraine. But the current relationship between France and Russia should continue to exist,” the ambassador said.

Russia and France need to continue political cooperation, he said.

“We ought to work together in politics in order to seek to resolve our current disagreements. At the same time, we need to promote activities taking place between our countries in order to maintain our friendly relations,” Ripert said.

When commenting on the delivery of the Mistral-class ships, the ambassador said that the French president had already made his remarks on his issue.

“The president of the republic confirmed recently that the transfer of the helicopter carriers might be postponed until the situation in Ukraine made this delivery possible,” he said.
