Moscow - The Russian Foreign Ministry has harshly condemned recent bombings in Iraq and believes they were aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country.
"Another outbreak of terrorist activity is doubtlessly aimed at further complicating the already difficult internal political situation in the country at the moment of making important decisions following the parliamentary elections, which took place in Iraq on March 7 this year," the Foreign Ministry said.
"Moscow strongly condemns these bloody and inhuman crimes that killed and injured innocent people," it said.
Terrorists must be given "tough forceful resistance".
"Simultaneously, it is necessary to disrupt their plans to foment interethnic and inter-denominational discord in the political area," it said.
It was reported earlier that suicide bombers set off car bombs in several districts of Baghdad on Friday. Preliminary reports indicate that the bombings killed about 70 and injured over 100 people, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
