Moscow - Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing to attend the G20 summit in Australia, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Interfax.

“The president continues to prepare for the upcoming G20 summit in Australia and his participation in it,” Peskov said.

At the same time, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said on Sept. 21, G20 member countries did not have a shared opinion as to whether the Russian president should attend the group’s November summit in Brisbane, Australia.

Bishop said she had held consultations to that effect with representatives of G20 states.

However, Australian Treasurer Joseph Hockey said the day before, on Sept. 20, that G20 members were expecting Putin to attend the November summit.
