A ceremony to commemorate the 96 victims of the April 10, 2010 crash of the Polish plane carrying official delegation, including President Lech Kaczynski, was held in Smolensk.

The Polish delegation was led by Anna Komorowska, wife of the dead Polish president, and included 103 relatives of the plane crash victims, priests, and military servicemen. They arrived in Smolensk from Moscow by bus.

A liturgy service was conducted at the spot of the plane crash, during which each victim was commemorated by name. After that Komorowska, Russian presidential representative at the Central Federal District Georgy Poltavchenko and Smolensk region Governor Sergei Antufyev laid wreaths to a memorial rock installed at the crash scene a year ago.

The Polish delegation also intends to visit a memorial of the victims of political reprisals in Katyn, where wreaths will be laid and a religious service conducted in memory of Polish officers who were shot there 71 years ago.
