Beijing - Russian President Vladimir Putin has had a brief conversation with U.S. President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Beijing.

Interfax learned that the Russian and U.S. leaders spoke with each other while they were waiting for a photo session for summit participants at the Water Cube aquatic center in the Beijing Olympic Village.

The conversation lasted for at least five minutes, according to Interfax sources. The U.S. president was the first to greet Putin. Putin greeted Obama in return and the two presidents started talking.

Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Interfax that he did not possess such information so far.
