Russian rights campaigner Svetlana Gannushkina has been named a co-winner of a Swedish human rights award sometimes referred to as the "alternative Nobel."

The Right Livelihood Award Foundation announced on Sept. 22 that Gannushkina shares this year’s prize with the Syria Civil Defense group, Egyptian women’s rights activist Mozn Hassan, and Turkish independent newspaper Cumhuriyet.
