Anatoly Rubinov, the speaker of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament, has called for setting up a ruling party on the basis of the pro-presidential association 'White Rus.'
"This issue has grown from the grass-roots level," Rubinov said at a meeting with association activists in the Shklov district, the Mogilyov region, which was shown on Belarusian television.
"The people have reached the stage when they want to elevate their status and role in society and influence politics more effectively," he said.
