MOSCOW - The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) is banning imports of Turkish peppers and pomegranates from March 17, the agency said in a statement.

The ban is being imposed due to ‘systematic deliveries to Russia from Turkey of quarantined produce infected by pests and diseases that are quarantined in Russia,’ it said.

The ban applies to produce with the codes TN VED 0709601000 (peppers) and TN VED 0810909800 (pomegranates).

Consignments shipped before March 17 may be allowed into Russia subject to control and laboratory tests.
