Russia registered a budget surplus of 293.4 billion rubles (9.6 billion U.S. dollars) during the first seven months of this year, the federal statistics service Rosstat reported Thursday.
In the same period last year, Russia had a budget deficit of 575.4 billion rubles (18.8 billion dollars).
Budget revenue in the first seven months of 2010 was estimated at 9 trillion rubles (294 billion dollars).
Budget expenditures in the first seven months this year included 5.234 trillion rubles (171 billion dollars) on social and cultural programs and 962 billion rubles (31 billion dollars) on the national economy.
Another 21 billion dollars were spent on national security, law enforcement, national defense and public utility sector.
In 2009, Russia registered a federal budget revenue of 7.34 trillion rubles (247 billion dollars at that time).
