MOSCOW - Russia and Slovakia have agreed to sign an inter-governmental agreement on oil supplies from Russia and transit via Slovakia before the end of the year, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters after meeting with Slovak Economy Minister Pavol Pavlis.
The Russian Energy Ministry said in a statement meanwhile that the accord was planned to be signed in November and was currently going through its final approvals.
In April, Russia and Slovakia held preliminary talks on the deal, which would be in effect until December 31, 2009, and make provision for Russia providing Slovakia with up to 6 million tonnes of oil a year and for up to 6 million tonnes of Russian oil being yearly transited through Slovakia.
In 2013 Slovakia received 5.8 million tonnes of oil from Russia through the Druzhba pipeline, which passes through Ukraine.
