MOSCOW, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The era of carbon-hydrate fuel is coming to an end and the future belongs to nuclear energetics, head of Russia's state nuclear agency Rosatom Sergei Kirienko told students of Moscow Engineering Institute Friday.
Kirienko said, within the next 15 years, some 200 new nuclear power reactors would be built, and Russia would build two nuclear tanks a year by 2016.
According to the official, Rosatom has "very many" orders for building nuclear reactors in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, India, Vietnam, Turkey, Argentina and Venezuela.
He also mentioned a project to construct a Baltic nuclear power plant where Russia would possess 51 percent of the shares with the rest to be sold to private owners.
"Russia enjoys a very strong position on the global market of nuclear technologies and services," said Kirienko, as quoted by the Prime-Tass news agency.
