Moscow/Paris - The Russian crewmembers of the Vladivostok Mistral-class helicopter carrier will stay at the French shipyard until a final decision is made on the future of these ships, a military-diplomatic source told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
“It’s hard to say what the final decision on the helicopter carriers will be. But one thing is obvious: the crew will stay in Saint-Nazaire as long as it is needed for an unequivocal decision concerning the helicopter carriers,” the source said.
“A political decision on the Mistrals is not only France’s prerogative,” the source said. “As people say, this is a sword that cuts both ways,” the source said.
It was reported earlier that the Russian crew of the Vladivostok would be returned home by the end of 2014.
