The Georgian government has never had so much support from the U.S. administration as it does now, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said in a speech at Harvard University.
"We have never had such support from the U.S. as we do now and that helps us with democratic reforms and with ensuring the country’s security," Saakashvili was quoted as saying by Georgian media.
Saakashvili said the charter on strategic partnership signed by Georgia and the U.S. "is being fulfilled and is yielding results."
"Unfortunately, our peaceful development is being continuously hindered, primarily by Russia, which wants to resume its influence on the post-Soviet space," Saakashvili said.
Saakashvili, who is currently on a visit to the U.S., has met with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and leading U.S. senators and politicians.
