Russia can not exclude Ukraine from free trade area within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This was announced by director of the economic cooperation department of the CIS Executive Committee Andrei Kouchnirenko before the meeting of the economic council of the Commonwealth in Moscow.

“It’s absurd and fiction. First, it is impossible under a treaty provisions. Second, the issue is not on the agenda,” Kouchnirenko said.

He said that if a country does not like something, then it can withdraw from the CIS free trade area, and it is not correct to talk about the exclusion of a country.

Kouchnirenko noted that the majority of trade conflicts has a two-way nature and should be resolved directly between the two countries.
