You're reading: Ukraine’s TV and Radio Council bans 13 Russian channels

KYIV. March 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine's National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting has banned 13 Russian channels, while permitting to broadcast one French channel – Mezzo Live HD in Ukraine

The regulator made the decision at a meeting on March 17 and it will enter into force in a month after its adoption.

The Council also said Mezzo Live HD complied with the European Convention on Cross-Border Television, as well as Ukrainian laws.

As for the Russian channels, their monitoring revealed showings of persons who pose threat to Ukraine’s security and also of commercials forbidden for screening by foreign channels in Ukraine.

As reported, Ukraine’s National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting banned the broadcasting of 15 channels in Ukraine. Later it allowed one of them to resume broadcasting.
