Russia's illegal actions against Ukraine constitutes a danger to international order, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has said.
“Russia’s aggression against Ukraine led to the suspension of our
practical cooperation. And I regret to say that we see no signs that
Russia is respecting its international commitments. So today, we will
review our relations with Russia and decide what to do next,” he said at
a briefing following the NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
Rasmussen said that Russia had violated rules and destroyed trust, so NATO can’t continue cooperation with the country.
“There will be no business as usual with Russia until Russia comes
back into line with its international obligations,” Rasmussen said.
He said Ukrainian President Poroshenko’s peace plan is “a major step
forward and we fully support it,” and called on Russia to create
conditions for the implementation of the peace plan, to end its support
for separatist troops, and to stop the flow of weapons and fighters
across its border.
