Moscow believes that a national dialogue, the results of which should be accepted by all citizens of Ukraine, will help settle the crisis in that country, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vasily Nebenzya has said.
“There is a need to establish a national dialogue in Ukraine that
will help reach agreements that will suit all regions and all citizens
of that country,” he said at the third International Parliamentary Forum
in Moscow on June 26.
Beyond any doubt, there is both a “regional and a global dimension”
to the Ukrainian crisis, the high-ranking Russian diplomat said.
Regrettably, an attempt was made to use Ukraine “as a bargaining chip in some short-sighted political game,” he said.
It was not Russia’s choice because “new Russia has never initiated
any escalation of international tensions or tensions in relations with
our partners, including the U.S. This initiative has always belonged to
them,” Nebenzya said.
The same concerns the Ukrainian crisis, he added.
