You're reading: Gazprom owes Ukraine for gas transit from October – Naftogaz

Prepayment by Russia's OAO Gazprom for gas transit shipments across Ukraine was over in September, and the Russian company should transfer money to the Ukrainian side for this service as of October, Naftogaz Ukrainy Director for business development Yuriy Vitrenko said.

“Our estimates indicate that Gazprom’s prepayment for [gas] transit ended in September, and they need to pay us starting from October. They cannot command the money and use it to offset any debt,” he told reporters on Oct. 14.

When working on the estimates, the Ukrainian side charged the price of Russian gas at $286.5 per 1,000 cubic meters.
