NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy is in talks with European partners on the supply of additional amounts of gas in case of force majeure, Naftogaz Deputy Chairman Oleksandr Todiychuk said during a forum on Ukraine's fuel and energy sector.
“The algorithms of reverse gas supplies are in operation, and they will provide us with 5-6 billion cubic meters of gas in winter, but the scenario of emergencies, namely the severe winter weather, exists… We’re negotiating that in case of force majeure, they [the European suppliers] will increase gas supplies beyond the contracted, which will let Ukraine live through a severe winter,” he said.
