Belgrade - Russia is set on constructively reaching agreements with Ukraine on gas, Energy Minister Alexander Novak told journalists in Belgrade.
“We are interested in these agreements being reached. The president also said this in an interview, that we are set [on reaching agreements] constructively,” he said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s interview with Serbian paper Politika.
Commenting on the fact that Ukraine’s national oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy had filed a suit to have a transit agreement reviewed, Novak said: “These agreements are in effect until 2019. Each party has the right to turn to the arbitration court – this is a normal practice. There’s nothing to comment on here. We are living and working in accordance with the existing contract.”
The next round of gas talks between Russia, Ukraine and the EU is set to take place on Oct. 21.
