The Regional Development, Construction, Housing & Utilities Ministry and the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry have given the green light to the beginning of the heating season in the Ukrainian regions with due regard for the weather conditions and natural gas consumption limits.

“The Regional Development, Construction, Housing & Utilities Ministry and the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry … have approved the beginning of the 2014-2015 heating season by the executive agencies of the city, town and village councils and local state administrations of Ukraine,” a joint letter by the two ministries, which was published on Oct. 20, reads.

Heat suppliers should not only take into account the average monthly temperature of the air, as is stipulated in the heating season requirements, but also observe the actual level of natural gas consumption by consumers until the end of the 2014-2015 heating season, depending on the regional gas consumption quotas approved by a government resolution dated July 9, 2014.

The ministries also suggest that schools and hospitals, facilities with independent heating systems and those which do not use natural gas for heating be first to be heated.
